The TruCVC® is an adult upper torso trainer for teaching best practices in central venous catheter insertion using
ultrasound guidance. This simulator features correct and realistic vascular anatomy. TruCVC provides unmatched
realism for developing central line skills in needle insertion, wire manipulation, and catheter placement under live
ultrasound guidance.
Ultrasound-Ready | Clinically Accurate
| Continual Training
TruCVC® ideal for ultrasound-guided central venous catheterisation training, enabling consistent practice of needle
insertion, guidewire handling, and full catheter placement using the Seldinger technique – supported by realistic
anatomy, visual flashback, and rapid reset for repeatable learning outcomes.
Accurate Clinical & Vascular Anatomy
TruCVC® delivers clinically relevant upper torso and neck anatomy to support accurate landmarking
and scanning, including:
Right Clavicle
Manubrium
First Right Rib
Sternocleidomastoid Muscle
Core vascular structures include:
Internal Jugular Vein
Subclavian Vein
Carotid Artery
Subclavian Artery
Real-Time Feedback & Confirmation
Head positioning is pre-configured at 10° leftward rotation to expose the right neck and ensure anatomical
landmarks are accessible for ergonomic right-sided cannulation practice.
The adjustable base enables 15° Trendelenburg positioning to support clinically aligned approach and learner
technique standardisation.
Ultrasound Guidance & Procedural Workflow
Designed for full skill development under live ultrasound guidance: needle insertion, wire manipulation,
dilation and full catheter placement. Learners can visualise vessel tenting on access and use fluid
injection/withdrawal to confirm needle tip placement.
Visual Feedback
Learners can utilise fluid injection/withdrawal to confirm needle tip placement, with arterial pulse
simulation available via hand pump activation to reinforce vessel differentiation and decision-making.
Durability & Continual Training
Built with TruUltra® self-regenerating material to support 1,000+ needle punctures and 40+ full catheter
insertions per insert (20+ per vein site), enabling dependable throughput and long-life utilisation.
Set-up time is under 5 minutes with no mess. A simple fluid mechanism supports rapid blood refill, helping
maintain continuous classroom flow.
The system is compatible across ultrasound machines and engineered to keep learner flow moving in busy
teaching environments.

TruCVC provides unmatched realism for developing central line skills under live ultrasound guidance.
Recommended equipment sizes:
Size 20G needle for IV cannulation is recommended for optimal performance. Do not use a needle
larger than 18G
Size 8F catheter
Using equipment sizes outside of TruCorp’s recommendations can cause permanent damage to the model
and the product warranty will be void (please refer to page 16 for warranty information).

The TruUltra material is unlike anything else in the market. It showcases a high-quality
ultrasound image to provide trainees with a true-to-life ultrasound training solution. Learners
will benefit from realistic visualisation of the internal jugular and subclavian veins, carotid
and subclavian arteries.
The TruCVC does not have a limited shelf life, therefore this unit can be used over an extended
period of time without vast deterioration to the insert.
We do not recommend the use of a scalpel for the initial incision or sutures to complete the
procedure as this will affect the durability of the unit. Please use the suture pad provided for
this step of the procedure.
Poor quality ultrasound images are caused by air inside the blood. To improve the image, insert
more blood into the jugular, subclavian, common carotid. Approximately 50ml (veins) and 20ml
(arteries) should be sufficient.
The ultrasound insert facilitates 40+ full catheter incisions (20+ full insertions per site –
Jugular vein & Subclavian Vein) using the recommended equipment sizes and 1000+ needle
penetrations.
This is normal! Sometimes when refilling blood into the system, you may see some small leaks on
the insert from old punctures. This is caused when the blood is being refilled too quickly
through the syringe. To minimize the leakage, enter the fluid slowly.
Size 20G needle for IV cannulation is recommended for optimal performance. Do not use a
needle larger than 18G needle.
We do not recommend the use of a scalpel for the initial incision or sutures to complete the
procedure as this will affect the durability of the unit. Please use the suture pad provided for
this step of the procedure.
Yes, real feel vascular tenting will be experienced upon entry into a vessel and fluid can be
withdrawn if the procedure is successful. You can also simulate a pulse through simple hand pump
provided with the product.
No, this training model is delivered fully assembled. Simply follow the instructions in the
product user manual to insert fluid and you can begin training immediately after. The fluid
insertion process should be no longer than 5-10 minutes! Add ultrasound gel to the surface of
the product and ultrasound probe prior to use.
Please contact us and provide the serial number (found under the manikin base) and an
image/video of the issue. If it meets the warranty conditions TruCorp will repair free of
charge. If the warranty has expired, our sales team will provide a quote for repair.
Please store the manikin in clean, dry conditions away from heat and direct sunlight. Avoid
contact with metals, solvents, oils or greases and strong detergents. When the product is not in
use please store in the black carrier case provided.
Thoroughly wash the product with warm soapy water until all residue is removed.
Please do not use any of the following:
Germicides, disinfectants, or chemical agents such as glutaraldehyde (e.g. Cidex®)
Ethylene oxide, phenol-based cleaners or iodine-containing cleaners
In response to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, we recommend this additional step to ensure the
product
is fully sanitized:
Generously spray alcohol spray or gel (minimum 75% alcohol) and wipe off. Repeat 3-4 times to
fully
disinfect the product. This can also be used to assist with ensuring the wound dressing sticks
accordingly.
