Mini Umbilical Trainer
Freestanding Silicone stump with deep wound for haemorrhage control training.
This compact, freestanding umbilical training model is designed to provide realistic, repeatable practice for
umbilical vessel identification, cord blood sampling, and UVC/UAC procedures. Developed in collaboration with an
APLS trainer in New Zealand, the system replicates the look, feel, and function of a fresh umbilical stump using a
simple glass-jar reservoir setup.
The trainer can be configured in two ways, depending on your teaching needs:
- Long umbilicus for cutting and cannulation, or
- Multiple short training stumps for high-turnover vessel identification and blood-draw practice
The soft silicone stump is placed over the included glass jar, which acts as a fluid reservoir. A long umbilicus or a short stump is inserted through the central opening and down into the jar, creating a stable, fluid-filled system beneath the model.
-
Learners can then:
- Cut the cord (long-cord configuration)
- Identify vessels
- Insert needles or catheters
- Aspirate simulated blood for cord gas sampling
- Practice UVC or UAC procedures with realistic resistance and vessel structure
-
This product comes with:
- Silicone trainer stump
- Inserted glass jar reservoir
- Option of long umbilicus or multiple short training stumps (choose at time of order)
-
How to Use This Trainer
- Place the silicone stump over the glass jar.
- Insert the long umbilicus or training stump through the opening and into the jar.
- Fill the internal tubing with thin simulated blood.
- Proceed with cutting, vessel identification, aspiration, or UVC/UAC cannulation practice.
