Adult Female Torso for X-Ray CT, MRI
This phantom was designed using a CT dataset from a healthy 35-year-old female patient, standing 168 cm (5’5″) tall
with a BMI adjusted to 22. The model was developed using advanced artificial intelligence (AI) software,
incorporating a leading-edge algorithm to extract anatomical structures, ensuring exceptional precision and
anatomical accuracy within the phantom.
The Adult Female Torso Phantom is a groundbreaking innovation in medical imaging simulation, offering an
unprecedented level of anatomical accuracy. With the help of AI (Artificial Intelligence) software, this phantoms
design has been directly extracted from CT scans of a live, healthy 35-year-old patient with a height of 168cm
(5’5″) and a BMI adjusted to 22. As a result, it features highly realistic anatomical structures and organ
positioning. Developed in collaboration with medical professionals in the United States and Switzerland, this
advanced phantom sets a new standard in medical imaging education, system development, and research applications.
Engineered with multi-modality compatibility, the Adult Female Torso Phantom is optimized for X-Ray, CT, and
Ultrasound, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of clinical and research purposes. Its advanced
tissue-mimicking materials closely replicate soft tissue and bone of real human tissue. This high level of realism
is particularly beneficial for radiology training, where medical students, residents, and technologists can gain
hands-on experience using this phantom with different imaging equipment.
This female torso phantom also offers insight into several specialties dedicated to women’s health, as well as
general medical fields that frequently address female-specific conditions. For example, gynecology, breast oncology,
and mammography, with the potential for customizations to address obstetrics, including childbirth and pregnancy.
In terms of MRI applications, the phantom tissues have realistic T2 relaxation time values, which makes this product
the best fit for any T2-weighted MRI imaging methods. Very good results can also be achieved with proton-density
imaging methods. The phantom can still be imaged with T1-weighted methods, but the T1 values are less realistic, and
they are within the range of about 100 ms.

*/ These MRI scans were obtained from a customized version of this phantom with dynamic heart, lungs, and a hollow fillable GI tract. The scans were obtained using the following parameters: 500×406 mm FOV; 256×208 matrix; 2 mm in-plane resolution; 48 6-mm slices; 68/4000 ms TE/TR; 401 Hz/pixel readout bandwidth; 3 averages; 3 concatenations; 6 min 14 sec
T1 Scan Results
*/ These MRI scans were obtained from a customized version of this phantom with dynamic heart, lungs, and a hollow fillable GI tract. The scans were taken using the following parameters: 448 x 364 mm FOV; 320×260 matrix; 1.4 mm isotropic resolution; 192 slices; 2.39/4.77/7.08 ms TE1/TE2/TR; 450 Hz/pixel readout bandwidth; 1 average; 7 min 22 sec
Note: Although this product is primarily compatible with X-Ray CT and Ultrasound, it can also be used under MRI imaging. The only region of the torso that may yield slightly less realistic results is the GI tract (stomach and intestines).
The Adult Female Torso can also be made dynamic with our heart and lung pumps to simulate
respiratory
motion.
